A video project which aims to help refugees and those seeking sanctuary feel welcome and at home in the city’s arts and community venues has been launched by Arts Together to mark Refugee Week which this year runs from 14 -20 June.

Aire to There is a new paid traineeship, where 10 young people from Leeds aged 16-25 will learn the local and international history of the Leeds Waterfront, uncover hidden stories and use their voice to guide others by creating audio tracks for walking and boat tours. It is part of a region wide programme, Ignite Yorkshire, which aims to connect young people and Yorkshire’s industrial stories.

Leeds Arts Centre’s new visual identity has been designed to reflect their socially engaged, community focussed approach to theatre making – hopefully raising a little cheer around the creative arts in the city along the way!

In early October some of the team here at Slung Low spent a week at Holbeck’s Ingram Road Primary School reading our new children’s book ‘Emergency Story Penguin’ to the kids. At the end of the week we gave each one of them a copy.
