Collaborative Workshops | Elements of Nature

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Elements of Nature, a brand-new collaborative arts project from Left Bank Leeds, funded by Leeds Inspired and Leeds City Council’s Grow programme.

From July to November 2025, six early-career artists will work with local communities to explore creativity, sustainability, and our relationship with the natural world. Each artist has chosen an element — Earth, Water, Light, Shadow, or Time — as inspiration, and together with participants will create new artworks through a series of free public workshops.

LHT Unwrapped: Halloween SFX Workshop

This October half term, we’re diving into the world of spooky special effects — just in time for Halloween!

Inspired by some of our favourite fright-filled films, this hands-on workshop explores how filmmakers create their most gruesome and ghoulish effects. From blood and guts to ooze and slime, you’ll get to see (and try!) the tricks behind the scares.

Warning: not for the squeamish!

Brides plus Q&A

Teenage best friends Doe and Muna are going on the trip of a lifetime. Doe, a quiet and watchful Somali refugee, hasn’t travelled since arriving in the UK as a child. Muna, bold and defiant, leads her through airport security with the promise of a new beginning. But this is no holiday. The girls are heading to Istanbul to be taken across the Syrian border to start a new life. When their contact fails to appear, their journey becomes a perilous improvisation across unfamiliar territories.

LHT Unwrapped: Drama Day

As spooky season descends, join us for a LHT Unwrapped: Drama Day! Using drama games, physical theatre and ensemble play, we’ll be exploring everything that goes bump in the night…

Potion Party (Ages 6 – 8): Step into our witches’ workshop and discover the magic of potion-making. You’ll dream up brews with extraordinary effects – potions that make you grow taller than a giant, shrink as small as a mouse, wobble like jelly, or dance without stopping!

Phil Ellis: Bath Mat

Multi-award-winning ‘comic genius’ (Scotsman) and the new star of Taskmaster (Channel 4), Phil Ellis is going on his first full national stand-up tour.

Following his three big award wins at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe, Phil, the very definition of funny bones, presents his brand-new show Bath Mat.

Jam-packed with laugh-out-loud profound silliness, superbly crafted gags and constant surprises, Phil is bringing his Bath Mat to a city near you.

Magpie Minds Workshop

Calling all 14 – 24 year olds! Join us for this special 'Magpie Minds' workshop inspired by our current exhibition, 'To Improvise A Mountain: Lynette Yiadom-Boakye Curates'.

Author, performance and playwright Seki Lynch has developed a workshop exploring aspects of writing, creativity and curation. Seki will lead this workshop where participants will interact with the exhibition to investigate how we find patterns in colour, texture, tone, space, atmosphere, and experience. Using these lenses, we'll tap our creative wells to develop new ways of seeing and creating work.

A Proper Merry Christmess

It’s Christmas Eve at West Yorkshire’s (almost) favourite garden centre - and the last chance for one lucky department to win the seasonal bonus. Over at the grotto, a reluctant Santa, relentlessly positive Tree, and stressed-out student Elf all need cash and quick. Forget Christmas miracles, they’ll have to pull together to sleigh this competition.
