My Log has Something to Tell You: Three Episodes from Twin Peaks with the Evolution of Horror podcast

Set in the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Twin Peaks, this hugely influential series follows the investigation led by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper into the murder of local Homecoming Queen Laura Palmer. Our good friends and self-confessed Twin Peaks obsessives The Evolution of Horror have picked three classic episodes, one from each series, including, yes, Episode 8 from The Return.

Blue Velvet

Returning home to visit his father, who is in intensive care, young Jeffrey Beaumont stumbles upon a severed human ear in a field. With local police seemingly uninterested, Jeffrey teams up with Sandy, a police officer's daughter, to do their own investigation, leading them into an ever darker world of crime, strangeness and obsession...

With a truly terrifying turn by Dennis Hopper, Blue Velvet uncovers the trademark Lynch obsession: that a dark underworld exists beneath the American Dream, lurking behind the white picket fences.

David Lynch 101... in a day

When David Lynch passed away earlier this year, the world lost a true visionary.

Intended for both newcomers to Lynch – and fans who are keen to dig a little deeper – David Lynch 101... in a Day will see us take a deep dive into the life and work of this artist and maverick of cinema.

Taking place from 12:00 to 19:00 – followed by a screening of Blue Velvet at 20:20 – throughout the day we'll cover:

Brian Houston

Every month The Barn Coffee Shop welcomes the best independent acoustic acts to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm. In October we're privileged to host the Belfast Troubadour Brian Houston.

“One of Britain’s great song writers!” Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

“If Ron Sexsmith and Elvis had a baby; gave it to Bob Dylan to raise but hired Van Morrison as a nanny they’d call it Brian Houston" The Drew Marshall Show

Ali Bullivent & Godfrey Pambalipe

Every month The Barn Coffee Shop welcomes the best performers to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm.

“Loving these Acoustic Nights” “super food, excellent coffee” “such a great buzz” “Blooming amazing concert” “Phenomenal night” “You have an amazing thing going on”

In Sept 2025 we're privileged to host a concert from Yorkshire and Zimbabwe featuring Ali Bullivent & Godfrey Pambalipe.

A rich mix of Southern African to folk to gospel to pop, with drums, guitars, harmonies, dance to touch the heart!

Inland Empire

Actress Nicki Grace has landed a role of a lifetime, but when she falls for her co-star, she realises that her life is beginning to mimic the film she’s shooting, in ever more surreal and nightmarish ways. Adding to her confusion, she discovers the film is a remake of an unfinished Polish production, never finished due to an unspeakable tragedy.

David Lynch: The Art Life

We’re invited in, and given private views from, Lynch’s compound and painting studio in the hills high above Hollywood, as he tells personal stories that unfold like scenes from his films. Strange characters come into focus only to fade again into the past, all leaving an indelible mark.

As Lynch said, “I think every time you do something, like a painting or whatever, you go with ideas, and sometimes the past can conjure those ideas and color them. Even if they’re new ideas, the past colors them.”

This screening will be proceeded by a David Lynch short film.
