On Monday evenings, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, Horsforth Arts Society holds 'Life Drawing' classes which are open to adult members and non-members.

This exhibition to showcase favorite pieces from the last year is a great way to celebrate everyone's progress and talent.

During this two hour workshop you will create a one-of-a-kind recycled pamphlet notebook and explore collage using off-prints and colourful paper stocks!

You will learn the 3-hole pamphlet stitch to bind your notebook, a technique which can be used as a basis for artist’s bookmaking and zine-making.

All materials will be provided, no prior skills or experience necessary.

Suitable for ages 16+. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

In this workshop, we will learn how to turn everyday sheets of paper into different kinds of folded books, and then fill the pages with collage, drawings, and stories.

Zines can really be about anything, from real diaries or imaginary tales to funny jokes or secret obsessions. Turn your drawings and ideas into zines and share them with the world.

Monoprint is one of the core families of printmaking processes—a method of creating unique, one-off prints by rolling ink onto a plastic plate surface. Ink can be added or wiped off in certain areas, and a print is then taken from the plate. Multiple plates can also be printed in register to achieve exciting layered compositions.

Concertina is a really playful technique that can be used to create a variety of books and sketchbooks and combined with other binding techniques to create more complex outcomes. In this introductory session, Abbie will guide you through the process of constructing a simple concertina as well as making a decorative hard cover which will enable you to add colour and personality to your book.

In this workshop we will make a show-stopping journal, using the traditional bookmaking pamphlet stitch technique to bind multiple signatures into a faux leather wrap around cover and create a decorative spine in the process. Using provided templates and specialist equipment, we’ll plan the stitching for a decorative pattern on the spine; cut and collate our fabric and paper signatures; then stitch them together to create a satisfyingly chunky book, ideal for sketching, collecting and travelling.
