Valkyrie

Crafted from recycled plastics, Valkyrie is a huge suspended glowing orb which responds to sound and voices. Inspired by the Northern Lights, you can create your own aurora by speaking into the sculpture, creating new colours to ripple across its icy surface.

In addition to public interaction, there are also some short performances taking place under the sculpture.

6.30 & 7.15pm: Leeds Playhouse’s Youth Theatre reflect on our place in the cosmos, how we can sustain our planet and what it means for the future.

Dreaming Being

MAPP

Want to be part of an artwork? MAPP is a mobile interactive video mapping system which is projected from an old-fashioned pram. Strike a pose, be scanned and your silhouette will appear against a colourful projected background. You can capture these images in your own photographs before they disappear.

The Silent Disco Ball

The tunnel leading to Headrow House is transformed into a reflective light display.  This installation, featuring a suspended disco ball, makes a poignant statement mourning the closure of almost 50% of our nightclubs since 2020.

Karanjit Panesar: Furnace Fruit

New works inspired by the British Library and Leeds Art Gallery collections.

Furnace Fruit debuts new artworks created especially for Leeds Art Gallery, which consider themes of labour, migration, memory and empire. The exhibition takes as its starting point the story of migrant labourers from Punjab, including members of Panesar’s own family, who came to the UK and found themselves working in automotive foundries in the 1950s and 1960s.

Lumens

The Lumens embody everything that is alien, unusual and exotic. Four legged, on stilts and wearing mirrored suits, they are covered in colour changing fibre optic lights. Their movement is robotic, their manner, interested, and they are a rich feast for the eyes.
