Sculpture Play in Artspace

A room full of different everyday objects invites young and older to stack, balance and join to make 3D artworks from  the stuff that surrounds us and is thrown away when it could be used to make art.  Each day we will photograph one and post it on our social media as #Play 'sculpture of the day'.

Whilst you are here, why not explore the Gallery for artworks featuring everyday things, spend time in our Sculpture and Photography exhibition, and pop-next door to our sister gallery the Henry Moore Institute to find the Hany Armanious 'Stone Soup exhibition.

Mutant Movement ALL DAY 1975 Special: 50th Anniversary Afternoon DJ Set

Six hours of DJ MUTANT MOVEMENT.

The idea is not to just play records released in a particular year but more about recreating the buzz that was around at the time, including tracks released on record in previous years but still very relevant as well as those not yet on record but a staple part of an artist's live show, B-sides and album tracks or sessions recorded for radio broadcast such as on John Peel's show.

Either way, every track I play at these anniversary events were heard in the year we celebrate and no doubt in someone's list of favourite tracks of that year.

Queer Women and Queer Monsters Workshop

Join historian Cat Stiles for a talk and collage workshop celebrating the queer history of monstrous women and female monsters. We'll meet the OG lesbian vampire, sixteenth-century witches who had sex with the devil, and Medusa before and after her transformation into a monster.

Cat will take us on a guided tour of the history of gender and monstrous bodies, before giving you the chance to make your own monstrous collage art and poetry from historical pictures and texts - a perfect start to the spooky season!
