Kate Pankhurst's Fantastically Great Trail

From February 14th to March 8th, you can attempt to complete Kate Pankhurst’s Fantastically Great Trail by visiting library zones across Leeds and collecting the letters on the Fantastically Great Women on display in the buildings listed in each zone. The letters will create a word linked to one of the women. When you have a complete word for one zone or more, email a picture to leeds.libraries@leeds.gov.uk by March 8th for the chance to win a prize. Zones win prizes!

Coleridge-Taylor of Freetown - A Concert in a Play

January 1999.

George Coleridge-Taylor, retired Sierra Leonean diplomat, finds himself trapped in Fourah Bay College when the civil war that has been ravaging the country reaches Freetown. In hiding, he reflects on his and his country’s stories, wondering if he dares defend the woman captured by the fearsome rebels.

His imagination takes him to more peaceful climes, where he sings the beautiful songs of his famous uncle, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

Contains allusions to, and suggestions of, gender-based and war violence, and one profanity.
