Radical Reading Room Book Event | Unlocking Sustainable Cities

We’re delighted to announce our next Radical Reading Room author event, ‘Unlocking Sustainable Cities’ with Paul Chatterton.

Join us for an evening of discussion with urban innovators and community members who are reimagining our city and unlocking the huge potential of real sustainability. The event will include an author talk, panel discussion and audience Q&A.

Unlocking Sustainable Cities

An evening with ‘Virdee’ creator AA Dhand

Join us for an evening at the Old Woollen as we talk to Bradford based writer A. A. Dhand about his latest adrenaline-filled, compulsive page-turner ‘The Chemist.’ A. A. Dhand is the author of five previous novels, and has been shortlisted for the CWA Steel Dagger Award. His DI Harry Virdee novels are currently being adapted for TV by the BBC. He was raised in Bradford and spent his youth observing the city from behind the counter of a small convenience store.

Contemporary Dystopia: The Return of Apocalyptic Thinking

In the second of three Saturday afternoon talks at Mill Hill Chapel asking ‘What Happened to the Future?’, we welcome back writer Tim Black to discuss why the apocalyptic exerts such a powerful pull on the modern imagination.

End-thinking seems to abound today. Politicians and activists alike warn daily of the ever-impending climate catastrophe. Others talk excitedly of the next pandemic or of the world-ending threat posed by AI. What’s driving the prevalence of apocalypticism today?

Study Day: Building 19th Century Leeds

Join our curatorial staff for a look at the evolution of buildings in 19th Century Leeds.

With plentiful hot drinks, cake, fruit and a chance to look at some of our ephemera collections up close. From grand civic buildings to vernacular architecture, we will examine how a Georgian town became a grand Victorian city through images, maps, and written documents.

Book through Ticket Hub. See Tickets below.
