Fashion at Play: Fabric Printing

Inspired by some of the pretty yet practical textiles on display in 'Fashion at Play: Children's Clothing Through the Ages', join us for a family-friendly fabric printing workshop with Leeds artist Saba Siddiqui, who was also a Youth Curator on the exhibition.

Young visitors are invited to get creative with colour and technique to design their own prints and patterns to take home. A fun and friendly drop-in session, no booking required.

The Sculpture Gallery: David Cemmick

We welcome David Cemmick as our guest for September, and sincerely hope you can view his fascinating pieces.

David’s work includes large-scale public commissions, and he has exhibited extensively, in the UK and overseas. Based in Cumbria, many roles have inspired his art, such as ​​ taxidermist, conservationist, illustrator, scientific field recorder, commercial figurine designer, lecturer and teacher, and figurative and animal artist. Recycling is another passion, including tearing and glueing deconstructed cardboard.

Cinema Crawl: Gregory's Girl

For the 2nd film in this year's Leeds Cinema Crawl, the Picture House presents a screening of Bill Forsyth's BAFTA-winning 1981 classic, Gregory’s Girl – newly restored and ripe for rediscovery.

Gregory (John Gordon Sinclair) and his friends are starting to notice girls – particularly Dorothy (Dee Hepburn), not least because she’s on the football team and is a better player than all the boys. With counselling from his younger sister, Gregory finally asks Dorothy out, but turns up to the date only to discover that the girls at school have other plans for him.

Wild at Heart

Controversial winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival, Wild at Heart is a hugely entertaining, violent and superbly strange sex-fuelled road trip. "The world is wild at heart and weird on top."
