Apocalypse Remix Workshops

Don't wait for the future to happen, come along to our Apocalypse Remix workshops with Edek Thompson and invent it!

Edek is an artist who is looking at how nature will adapt to the future in an era of accelerated climate change but with a large dose of humour.

Come and join us for one, several or even all of our workshops to work with Ed as he assembles his coterie of creatures; adaptations and mutations all spliced with the funny gene.

No art experience needed . . .

Edek Thompson: Apocalypse Remix

Edek Thompson is an artist with one foot in the apocalypse, well actually several feet, mostly webbed and at the end of super long legs to deal with the rising tides of climate change. His work is a humorous take on a serious subject. Ed invites you to join him at BasementArtsProject and imagine a post-climate change environment in which humans and animals have evolved to deal with their new circumstances.

Create a Theatrical Animal Mask with Tracy Lau

In this session you'll create your very own animal themed mask - this could be used for a theatrical project, as home decor, or just as a skill building exercise.

Tracy, will guide you in how to build up and sculpt facial features beginning with a plain mask. Using predominaly recycled and sustainable materials, your animal will begin to take shape. You will then get the opportunity to refine it using papermache.

This session is ideal for those who are interested in 3D construction, theatre work or puppetry - or if you just want to have a go at something creative!

Wand

The original group – Cory Hanson (guitar, vocals), Lee Landey (bass), Evan Burrows (drums) and Daniel Martens (guitar) - recorded Ganglion Reef before too long and attracted the attentions of GOD? Records, In the Red and Drag City all at once.
