Irish Music Evening: The Weaving

The Weaving is Méabh Begley (accordion, vocals) and Owen Spafford (fiddle) and Cait Ni Riain (piano, vocals).

This trio brings together the rich musical traditions of three counties Kerry, Tipperary and Yorkshire, their three regions of origin.

Their music is imbued with the driving rhythms of the Gaeltacht of West Kerry where they first met; fierce dance music and raw harmonies inspired by a deep understanding of their musical inheritance.

It's a Sing! LGBTQ+ Inclusive Karaoke!

Join your host Quinn for inclusive LGBTQ+ karaoke at Pride Place!

Inclusive karaoke has five rules:

You don’t have to be able to sing to be good at karaoke - you just have to love the song you’re singing. The more you love the song, the better you’ll be.

Respect the singer. It takes courage to come up here and all singers need from you is for you to pay attention to them and show them some love.

You absolutely can sing a song if someone else has already sung it. Karaoke isn’t a competition.

Singing in the Abbey!

The City Museum Singers make a special one-off appearance in the Nave at Kirkstall Abbey with a collection of Folk Songs for Creativity and Wellbeing Week. So come along and listen in the unique monastic surroundings for this event. The City Museum Singers meet on the first Friday of every month to sing in harmony, find their voice and take time for wellbeing.

No need to book, just turn up! Normal admission applies.
