An exclusive series of events showcasing three leading UK Roots music acts will be performing in London, Leeds and Newcastle from the 19th-21st of September. The Sleazy Shindig is a triple headed bill featuring some of the cream of British Americana musicians, all of whom have releases on iconic Spanish label, Sleazy records.
Howlin’ Ric needs no introduction to fans of high octane Rock ‘n’ Roll with grease under its nails and fire in its belly. His highly talented Leeds combo effortlessly switch between vibrant, authentic Rock ‘n’ Roll and Soulful Rhythm and Blues, with a helping of dreamy love songs along the way.
The band have three studio albums Waiting By the Dance Floor (2019), Cautionary Tales (2022) and most recently High Risk, Low Reward (2025) released on Sleazy Records. This most recent album is the product of some of the band’s influences, pulling on artists such as Dr. Feelgood, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and the Blockheads and The Clash but always rooted in the band’s original influences, such as JD Mcpherson, Nick Curran and many artists from the Motown stable.
Over recent years the band have gained the reputation of a hard touring outfit playing sweaty clubs, packed dancefloors and storming festivals the length and breadth of the UK, from Belladrum Tartan Heart festival in Inverness to famous festivals like Boomtown in England. The band has also featured in many of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Festivals across Europe playing in front of sell out audiences at festivals such as Rockin’ Race (Spain), Summer Jamboree (Italy) and Sjock Festival (Belgium).
They will be joined by North East based Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, who have been gleefully trampling over genre boundaries for over a decade now, slinging Rockabilly, Blues, Country, Swing, Soul and more into their musical gumbo, but always sounding uniquely like themselves.
Based in Newcastle but hailing from across the UK, the Tea Pad Orchestra have released five albums, and toured widely across the British Isles and Europe, playing everywhere from Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk Festival to village halls and barns, and all points in between.
Completing this iconic triumvirate of acts is London’s own queen of Rhythm & Blues, Aisha Khan with her scintillating Rajahs. With a lineage of musical excellence spanning three decades, they are known for their powerful stage act and peerless original music. With performances from Australia to Spain, this female fronted outfit is a masterclass in Old School Rhythm & Blues, Blues and Rock & Roll, all served up with charm, wit and a big dollop of Diva sass.
The Leeds leg of the Shindig will take place on Saturday 20th September at the Hyde Park Book Club.
