You Are An Artist (despite telling yourself different!)

What, or who, do you think of when you consider the term artist? A few years ago I was asked this question, my response today is very different to the one I gave back then.

Let me introduce myself; I am Doll and I make art. I am an artist.

It has taken many years to feel comfortable saying that, and the question I posed has a lot to do with how I see myself. When I pondered the question originally my view of an artist came tangled in layers of perception, judgement and self doubt - the term evoked sterile white gallery walls and ornate gold frames holding oil paintings.

Introduction to Lino Printing

Want to try lino printing? Join Andy (the Saltaire printmaker) for a beginners workshop covering the basics of lino printing. You will be taken through this exciting step by step process, drawing, cutting and finally printing your very own design from a piece of soft cut lino. Don’t worry if you haven’t any ideas as plenty of reference material is provided.

This relaxed workshop will cover the basics and is great for first timers or those who haven’t tried lino printing for many years and want a refresh.

A Community Conversation with the Lord Mayor of Leeds

Join the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Abigail Marshall-Katung and Dwayne Hutchinson of AccomplishBCEL®, as they speak with the local community, respond to questions and discuss how everyone can help and contribute to positive changes for African and African-Caribbean students in their education and career journeys in 2025 and beyond.
