Vasilis is only in Leeds for a couple of days so we’re delighted he’s found time to stop off at Left Bank whilst he’s here and tell us more about his book. Not only will you be able to hear about the book and learn more from the author but you may also be in for a mid afternoon musical treat.

Skinny Lister

Since 2009, Skinny Lister have been at the forefront of first-rate folk/punk in the UK. Making waves with the irrepressible energy of their debut album ‘Forge and Flagon’ in 2012, the London-formed crew went on to sign with Xtra Mile Recordings for the release of their classic second album ‘Down On Deptford Broadway’ (2014) and so beginning a partnership that has birthed a further four records with the label including ‘The Devil, The Heart, The Fight’ (2016), ‘The Story Is…’ (2019), ‘A Matter Of Life & Love’ (2021), and most recently ‘Shanty Punk’.

Poor Creature

History is a chronological timeline, often misinterpreted and disputed. Rooted in landscape and geography, people and moments, it thrives on contradiction: victors and losers, mythology and reality. Within that landscape, songs are arguably subject to even more contrasts. Songs that have existed for centuries can seem immutable and anchored to time. A new generation of Irish musicians are keen to acknowledge that musical legacy, while reimagining the songs within a contemporary context.

Ugly Kid Joe

Ugly Kid Joe is an American hard rock band from Isla Vista, California. The band's name spoofs that of another band, Pretty Boy Floyd. Ugly Kid Joe's sound includes a range of styles, including rock, glam metal, hard rock and heavy metal.

After releasing three full-length albums and touring extensively throughout the 1990s, Ugly Kid Joe disbanded in 1997, and reformed in mid-2010. They also plan to release an EP sometime in 2012.
