Professor Joyce Hill leads a guided walk tracking the Industrial Revolution as it developed in Holbeck, featuring figures such as Matthew Murray, John Marshall, and later ‘Colonel’ Harding.
Discover the sumptuous interiors with a host of ornate original features and learn about freemasonry past and present.
Castle Grove, a magnificent survivor of Victorian Far Headingley, was built in 1834 by Samuel Holmes a Park Lane linen merchant and was the opulent home of several noted Leeds businessmen. Since 1935 it has been the home of Castle Grove Masonic Hall. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Join historian Robert Dyson for a walk around this much-neglected area of Leeds, Mabgate.
We will start the walk in a late 18th Century Mill, discovering the development of Mabgate from medieval common land via the Industrial Revolution into the 21st-century. Along the way, you will learn about the housing, apartments, and Culture with plenty of surprises to discover!
Meeting Point: The walk will start at Wren Bakery located in Mabgate Mill, why not arrive 30 mins before and grab yourself a coffee and delicious homemade cake?
Enjoy White Rose Early Dance perform mid-17th century costumed dance in the stunning Picture Gallery. The dancers will be accompanied by Leeds Waits.
White Rose Early Dance is a historical dance group based in Huddersfield which meets once a month to learn dances from the fifteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The dances have been researched and realised from contemporary manuscripts and publications.
A talk on Model Villages including Bournville, New Lanark, Port Sunlight, Saltaire, and the Philanthropic Movement by Eric Jackson JP.
