Kirkstall Festival Future Funding presents: Weetwood Mac + Gary Stewart's Graceland

Kirkstall Festival Future Funding are holding a very special event to help raise much-needed funds to help secure the future of the Festival.

Two of the most amazing covers bands in the country - Weetwood Mac and Gary Stewart's Graceland will play in the Abbey the night before the Kirkstall Festival 2024. 

This will be the first time the two bands have appeared on the same bill, ahead of their hugely anticipated gig at York Barbican on 21st December 2024.

The 2024 theme is ‘These are a few of my favourite themes’, a retrospective choice from past themes.

From food trucks to Vikings and strong men, live music, to the beer tent, there is something for all ages at Kirkstall Festival 2024.

The Moor Market ~ Start of the Summer

Join us for The Start of the Summer, a Moor Market event held on Saturday 22nd June. 

There will be a variety of vendors, fabulous food, drinks - including alcoholic beverages, table tennis, a free library and second hand sustainable shopping… a market that brings makers and the community together for a family fun day! 

It’s free to enter, accessible for all and suitable for all ages! Plus you can bring your dogs too!

Cinema on the Square: Moulin Rouge!

Cinema on the Square: Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads

Stop Making Sense in its full digital restoration is still the best concert film experience of all time, unmissable on the big screen in Millennium Square. Director Jonathan Demme and iconic band Talking Heads designed an unforgettable stage show, building famously from the opening Psycho Killer with David Byrne and ghetto blaster to the rapturous version of Al Green’s Take Me to the River with full band and backing choir. On the way, they take in classics like Once in a Lifetime and Girlfriend is Better, complete with gigantic business suit.

Join other Amélie fans for this outdoor screening of the much-loved Paris-set film on the giant concert stage screen on Millennium Square! Oozing charm and inventive flourishes, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s delightful romantic comedy exudes a genuine warmth and cheeky humour throughout. Amélie (Audrey Tautou) balances her waitressing job in Montmartre with a desire to help those around her through unnecessarily elaborate schemes.

Paul King, the director and co-writer of the Paddington films breathes life into another whimsical world in this prequel to Roald Dahls’ beloved story. Willy Wonka is an eccentric young chocolatier filled with creativity, ambition and a touch of magic. He arrives in a new town with dreams of opening his first chocolate shop but he must first find a way to overcome a cartel of greedy chocolatiers, a corrupt policeman and the mean Mrs. Scrubitte.

Leeds City Square Artisan Village Monthly Market

Leeds City Square will be hosting a variety of events throughout summer, ranging from family-friendly activities to screenings some of the season’s biggest sporting highlights. The space will see the return of Thor’s Tipi bar, providing drinks and street food, along with giant outdoor games, easels, ice cream and soft drinks for children and local bands and artists performing live music each week.
