Holbeck Gala

Holbeck Gala is a community run fun day/festival which happens on the first Saturday of July each year on Holbeck Moor. It's a celebration of our community and all that's great about Holbeck! 

The gala has now been running for over 20 years and is always a highlight of the Holbeck calendar. Each year you can expect stalls, tombolas, info, music, sports, great food, activities for kids, inflatables, animals and much more. 

All activities are FREE (except a £1 charge for the climbing wall) and their is no entry fee. 

Farsley Festival

This year our theme is under the sea! 

Come and see our epic community sea creature project, get a selfie with a mermaid, listen to some local bands, dance with the spirit of the water and go on some under water adventures with our story tellers. 

There’s plenty to see and do and it’s all free! 

The Kirkstall Abbey Comedy Festival

The first large-scale, open-air comedy festival to happen in Leeds, The Kirkstall Abbey Comedy Festival is a 4,500 capacity event bringing an array of the county’s very best and brightest comics to a truly unique Yorkshire venue.

The Kirkstall Abbey Comedy Festival boasts a line up that includes award-winning Canadian comedian and presenter Katherine Ryan (8 Out of 10 Cats, Taskmaster, Live at the Apollo) and surrealist stand up legend Ross Noble (Have I Got News For You, BBC Radio 4’s Just A Minute).

Cinema on the Square: Encanto Sing-Along

Join us at Cinema on the Square for this special outdoor Singalong version of the enchanting Disney animation, with an irresistible chart-topping soundtrack from Lin Manual Miranda. In the mystical mountains of Colombia lies the extraordinary Madrigal family, each blessed with a unique gift by the magic of the Encanto—every child except Mirabel. Madness Live At Kirkstall Abbey

Cinema on the Square: Girlhood

Don’t miss the chance to see a 10th anniversary screening of Céline Sciamma’s powerful coming-of-age drama Girlhood, on the huge open-air screen on Millennium Square. The film follows Marieme (played brilliantly by Karidja Touré), a young girl navigating the challenges of adolescence in a tough Paris suburb. As she joins a gang of free-spirited girls, Marieme slowly comes out of her shell and experiences moments of shared joy and freedom.

Cinema on the Square: Cléo from 5 to 7

Step into the streets of sixties Paris with a screening of Agnès Varda’s radical second feature on the big outdoor concert screen on Millennium Square. An exemplary film of the French New Wave, Cléo from 5 to 7 chronicles two hours in the life of pop singer Cléo (an iconic performance by Corrine Marchand), as she anxiously awaits the test results of a biopsy. Aimlessly roaming the Parisian streets, she encounters several friends and strangers, including a soldier on leave from the Algerian war.

Dance the night away this summer with Barbie on the giant outdoor screen at Millenium Square! Hot pink houses, fashionable wardrobes and all the beach-ing off you could wish for, Barbie (Margot Robbie) is living the dream in Barbie Land until an existential crisis, flat feet and thoughts of death hit. When her questions lead her on a path of discovery to the real world, Barbie (and a tag-along Ken) witness the dangers of humanity and learn about their very different places in it.

Cinema on the Square: Amazing Grace - Aretha Franklin

Brilliantly capturing a remarkable performer near the peak of her prodigious power, Amazing Grace is a thrilling concert film for Aretha Franklin fans and a must-see outdoors on the giant concert stage screen on Millennium Square. In January 1972, Aretha Franklin gave two days of gospel performances at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, recording what would become her bestselling album, Amazing Grace.
