Impulse: The Unconscious Form

Impulse is an exhibition of work by five level 2 fine art students from the University of Leeds.

In this exhibition, we wish to explore and combine a diverse approach to abstraction. Using artistic intuition and material experimentation, our works are rooted in responding to the physicality of the materials, embracing the spontaneity this involves, and using colour and nature to express our individuality.

INBOUND: investigating spatial presence, absence and form

You are invited to INBOUND: an art exhibition of work by fine art students exploring elements of spatiality.

INBOUND proposes a moment of engagement between visual art and elements of spatiality; exploring how the conceptual and physical implications of the concept allow us to engage with art as a practice.

Led by six young female artists, INBOUND is a playful consideration of how forms within art – both those that are present and those omitted – are integral to the experience of the work.

Frequencies

Frequencies is an exhibition of work by a group of five level 2 fine art students from the University of Leeds.

We are a group of young enthusiastic artists exploring major themes such as colour, connectivity and relationships. We translate and unpick past and present memories of shared spaces including memories of clubbing culture.

We use our art to observe human behaviours as well as navigate our own experiences. Through experimentation with paint, sculpture and collage, our work uses complexities of colour to rebuild shared, saturated memories.

Interwoven Beings

This exhibition showcases work by a group of level 2 fine art students from the University of Leeds.

Interwoven Beings aims to explore the tension between cultural-socio upbringing, authenticity and the fluidity of identity and the way we choose to present these.

Alongside mixed media, paintings, drawings and sculpture, the exhibition showcases cultural heritage as well as personal experience and the way these shape self-presentation through a series of woven works.

The Skin We Wear

The Skin We Wear is a duo exhibition of work by fine art students from the University of Leeds, exploring the physicality of bodies around us.

The body of work on display explores a variety of themes from an exploration into the qualities of skin confronting the changes in our bodies through the process of adolescence that tightens and manipulates the skin we wear.

Other work in this show reimagines representations of the female body challenging controls of the ‘Gaze’ and how female figures are seen through the grotesque.

Drift by Meg Erridge

Combining performance, sculpture, video, drawing, and collage, 'Drift' explores what it means to live without direction. For more and more of us, meeting our basic physical needs is a daily struggle, but shouldn’t life amount to more than this? What role does ambition play when there is no end goal in sight? When the future is so uncertain?
