Introduction to Woodwork - Hand Tools Level 1

For absolute beginners - Have a go at using the tools that are commonly lying around the house that you have no idea how to use!

Duration

5 hours with a 30 minute lunch break. 10am - 3pm. Tea and coffee breaks are optional. Lunch is not provided so please bring lunch with you, there are places nearby to grab some lunch if needed. Please this course is designed for people over 18 years old. We now run Young Makers courses for under 18's full listings can be found on Eventbrite.

SkillShed: Hands on Program Turning Waste Timber into Bike Sheds!

Join SkillShed: our FREE 6 week course turning waste timber into a bike shed to donate to a community organisation!

Each SkillShed will last 6 weeks, running on Tuesdays from 9.30 - 3pm. We have 10 spaces per cohort.

In each cohort participants will process timber collected by the LWR collections team, learn basic woodwork skills, have access to additional optional training such as CPC accredited micro qualifications and SEN training, whilst being part of a team constructing bike sheds.

Vegetable Printing Portraits

Carve vegetables and print portraits of our scarecrows in this fun half term workshop.

In these fun family craft sessions during the half term holiday, carve out vegetables into shapes and use them to print your own portraits of the scarecrows in our Scarecrow Trail!

This nourishing session blends two potent healing practices: the resonant magic of sound and the gentle power of Reiki creating a cocoon of rest, release and renewal - perfect for slowing down during the autumn and winter months.

Leeds Industrial Museum Scarecrow Trail

Come along to Leeds Industrial Museum to find the scarecrows that have made their home here for this half term.

Find them throughout the museum and then head into our newly opened picnic grounds area by the canal to find more lurking there!

You can also drop in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10.30am - 12pm & 12.30 - 2pm to get creative with our Vegetable Printing Portraits workshop.

The trail is included in museum admission, during opening hours. Please note the museum is closed on Mondays.

Life Drawing with Rob Oldfield - Portrait Special

Instead of our usual full-body life drawing, this month we will be focusing on the face. If you have been looking to practice your portrait skills, this is the session for you.

This workshop is open to everyone, from newcomers who want to take up a hobby through to experienced artists looking to hone their sketching skills.

Materials including various papers, pencils, charcoal and drawing boards will be supplied, but please feel free to bring your own too.

Bramley Arts Festival, featuring Hollywood Meets Bollywood

Get ready for a day of creativity, fun, and community vibes at the stunning Edwardian pool Bramley Baths:

There will be a live performance of Hollywood Meets Bollywood which debuted at Ilkley lido as part of Bradford 2025 in July this year.

It is a collaboration Bramley Mermaids were part of with Yorkshire Life Aquatic & Zoobin Surty Bollywood dancers.
