Company of People Roadshow

Come along to this free community roadshow to find out more about Company of People, a performance company of all ages based in Chapeltown and Harehills.

This interactive session will include a performance and the chance to get moving and chat to existing members. For those eager to join there will be an opportunity to sign up to take part in the next Company of People performance. For those wanting to dip a toe in you can find out more about our free weekly sessions starting in Autumn 2025 or sign up to attend future performances.

Scottish Dance Classes

There are two classes in Leeds suitable for beginners - Monday afternoon and Wednesday evening.

The Monday afternoon is an existing low impact class., which has been running for several years and is a good mix of beginners and dancers with some experience.

The Wednesday evening class has live music and is for dancers who prefer to attend outside ‘9 to 5’ working hours. It provides a structured introduction to Scottish Country Dancing including steps and formations to covers a range of dances which appears in many social situations. e.g. ceilidhs and weddings.

Saturday Sew Social

Join us at SCRAP for a series of creative community sewing events designed to help you make the most of your treasured fabric scraps.

Whether you’re a beginner, amending a project or a maker with a stash of beautiful leftover fabric, we’ve got a spot for you at the sewing table!

Our Saturday Sew Social is a relaxed sewing morning with support, conversation and creativity.  No booking required, just drop in.

Bring your mending pile, hand sewing or small projects and enjoy some mindful time with other stitchers.

Future Textiles - Working with Waste as a Resource

Join us in Sustainable Fashion Week for a FREE workshop which focuses on practical skills and open conversation around working with waste textiles.

Participants will explore techniques to turn discarded garments into new, usable materials, while developing ideas for sustainable design.

Through hands-on making and shared dialogue, the session supports skill-building and creative approaches to textile reuse.

Join Harriet Wadsworth, Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University's School of Arts, and her students in this hands on workshop.

Treasure Handling Session - Gardening and Botany

Join our team of Librarians to get up-close and personal with a curated selection of treasures from the Central Library collections, focusing on our gardening and botanical collections from the 17th to the 20th-centuries. 

There’ll be the chance to handle rare books from our archive, as well as the opportunity to chat with staff about the current exhibition – Unearthed: The Power of Gardening. 

This event is part of Unearthed: The Power of Gardening exhibition, in partnership with the British Library and the Living Knowledge Network.

Leeds Youth Pride 2025

This summer, Leeds Youth Pride is debuting and it’s all about celebrating the young LGBTQIA people and allies of Leeds.

You can expect: Hands-on workshops, free food,  live performances from inspiring local talent and local stalls full of creativity, pride, and resources.

This is a free event for young people of all identities from Yorkshire- a space where you can be unapologetically yourself, connect with others who understand and celebrate you, and take pride in who you are.

Death, dirt, and disease in 19th Century Leeds

Come explore the mourning traditions, living conditions and healthcare options in 19th Century Leeds. This study afternoon enables you to get up close with some of our ephemera collections relating to mourning and medical care in 19th Century Leeds. Curator Pat will look at mourning ritual, living conditions and proposed medical remedies in this relaxed but educational afternoon. Study Afternoon starts at 1pm prompt. Online only event. Participants will be emailed the MS Teams link before the event begins.
