Jake Vaadeland & The Sturgeon River Boys

Jake Vaadeland is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Saskatchewan, Canada. His traditional sound and unique style could be defined as a blend of Bluegrass and 50’s Rockabilly, with Jake also specializing on guitar and banjo in addition to his impressive vocals. Jake strives to write and play with a focus on storytelling and messages that he hopes his audience can relate to, all packaged in foot stomping, high energy performances with The Sturgeon River Boys.

Pedro the Lion

Early into Santa Cruz, the poignant third album in David Bazan’s ongoing musical memoir of his sometimes-uncanny life, he discovers the Beatles. He is the new kid from Arizona in a new school in the famous California coastal town where his dad has accepted another post at a Bible college.

Hinds

The fourth album from Spanish indie rockers Hinds opens with a song called “Hi, How Are You,” and at the time they were writing it, best friends Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote would’ve responded: Not great. “Hey, you ok?” Perrote sings to Cosials, who responds: “I’ve been better tbh.” It’s an apt introduction to VIVA HINDS, an album Cosials and Perrote made after emerging from a creative rut that began when they released their last album, Prettiest Curse, in 2020 and ended when their bassist and drummer decided to leave the band.

Silver Moth

A leap of faith reaps extraordinary rewards on Black Bay, the debut album of depth, atmosphere and daring from the collective known as Silver Moth. Black Bay is the sound of storied musicians yielding to shared goals, a policy of trust in action. Between hushed incantations and molten guitars, 15-minute noise-rock epics and healing psalms, their music is a testament to connectivity and receptivity: to a union of disparate minds committing to something greater than the sum of its parts.

Jah Wobble: performs Metal Box

Los Angeles, CA - Public Image Ltd.’s second album, the 1979 masterpiece Metal Box (later re-released as Second Edition), was a lightning rod to the music world in more ways than one.

The first pressing of the album was sold in an unadorned, round metal tin (hence, the album title) containing three 45 RPM 12” vinyl. The packaging signalled the intention - this was a band whose artistic aesthetic would not be forced to conform to the traditional commodification of commercialized music.
