Chemistry is back on Friday 27 September, with another night of poetry and spoken word, two brilliant headliners and our amazing open mic. This time round our headliners are Emily Zobel Marshall and Harry Man.

The events are themed on the elements of the periodic table, so this time it’s element number 15, which is P for Phosphorus. The theme is entirely optional, but we hope you might use it as a creative prompt to come up with some new work to reveal on the night.

Portraits Workshop with Ellie Andrews

Come join us for a fun and interactive FREE Portraits Workshop led by Ellie Andrews!

Held at Leeds Drawing Club this free workshop is one of three events forming part of (M)OTHER Exhibition, Ellie's first exhibition at Leeds Drawing Club.

Working with a portrait model seated within the artwork on show, we will look at the proportions of the head and face and how to opbserve and record those using comparative measuring and clear observation. We will also weave in creative expression through looking at other artists approach to portraiture.

(M)other

A series of Portraits of Mothers, completed over the Summer of 2024 by Ellie Andrews.

The women depicted in the exhibition are each at a different place in their individual motherhood experience.

Shared life experiences and connected moments between the artist and each woman are the backbone of this exhibition. They have orbited each other over the years and now suddenly all find ourselves in the same place - as women navigating our own mental health, future ambitions, career changes and a changing world, all through the lens of Motherhood.

Leeds International Beer Festival

The Leeds International Beer Festival returns for Year 12 - 5- 8 September, to celebrate and promote craft beer.

Once again, we’ll be taking over the entire Kirkstall Abbey site which includes the incredible church, central cloister, and stunning chapter house.

Our tipi village will also ensure the festival is undercover so audiences can enjoy beer whatever the weather.

The event will also feature a street food market, live music, DJs and much more.
