A guided walk through this historic village, once a township in the Manor of Harewood.
The village prospered and grew from the Victorian era but retains many earlier stone buildings amongst the more recent residential developments.
Join Alison for this fabulous weekend creating and customsing your own 50's inspired dress.
You'll learn how to make a 1950's classic silhouette dress. The dress will be tailored to your measurments, you can embellish, use contrasting fabrics, applique etc to make it totally unique.
Important note - you must bring 3 meters of fabric in your chosen colour/design and 1 meter trim.
This workshop is only suitable for people who can confidently use a sewing machine.

Historian Robert Dyson of the Civic Trust will lead you on a walking tour of Mabgate where you will discover its rich cultural heritage, from its agrarian roots through the industrial revolution and into the modern era.
In this course you’ll learn the basics of how to safely operate motorized tools such as; Chop saw, Jigsaw, Palm Router and Orbital sander.
You’ll make a small caddie project to learn the safe working practices and skills needed to operate power tools
Duration
5 hours with a 30 minute lunch break. 10am - 3pm. Tea and coffee breaks are optional. Lunch is not provided so please bring lunch with you, there are places nearby to grab some lunch if needed.
What skill level should I be?
The course is designed to teach absolute beginners the fundamental skills, techniques & principals of woodworking. We welcome participants with no experience.
What will I learn?
The course is a mixture of theory and practical learning. You will learn how to use a range of hand tools that can commonly be found in your home and learn to identify the most suitable woods for a project.
Participants will gain an understanding of all the basic terms & techniques required. You will create a small project to put into practice the skills you will learn.

This course is a mixture of theory and practical skills which will cover:
- A toolbox talk on what you need to fix different types of fixtures to different types of walls : Which drills, drill bits, screws and fixtures and when to use them.
- How to identify stud and brick walls, gaining a basic understanding of their structure.
- Practice using a battery combi-drill, hammer drill and SDS drill.
- Understanding the principles of how to avoid embedded pipes and cables.
