Steven Camden, aka Polarbear, is an acclaimed spoken word artist, YA novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. Testament is a spoken word artist, rapper, theatre-maker, and world record-breaking human beatboxer! Alongside our feature acts will be school pupils from around Leeds who've participated in poetry workshops as part of our festival programme. Part of Leeds Storytelling Festival 2025.

A Talk By Dr Eric Kemp- Benedict, the University of Leeds.

About the Talk 
How to make sense of the present moment? This talk presents one framing, drawing on the notion of the ‘Market Turn’ introduced by the Oxford economic historian Avner Offer. Beginning in the 1980s, the UK, together with the US and some other high-income countries, began to shift away from social democracy towards market liberalism – the Market Turn.

Offshoots returns in 2025, supported by the New Northern fund by Jazz North and Early Career Promoter Fund by the PRS foundation, featuring Flo/ra and Tom Harris.

Tom Harris is a northern pianist, composer, and educator. They try their best to make interesting work with kind people, and want to share it with as many folks as possible!

Tapestry Tour

Join us for a tour of the Leeds Tapestry, an iconic needlework display which celebrates our city’s history and culture. 

Learn about the beautiful needlework images and discover the stories behind their creation. 

We’ll also be showing original design sketches and practice needlework samples from the Tapestry project. 

Birdie the Bookworm - World Book Day Workshop

Birdie is a bookworm with a big imagination. She LOVES books but even more than that, she loves inventing stories and going on adventures in her head. Join her by sharing your ideas in this participatory storytelling performance to create a new and never-before-explored adventure where you can make your own story-inspired headdress.
