Hairspray

A screening of John Waters cult classic Hairspray. Part of Leeds Scalarama 2024.

THE WORLD WAS IN A MESS… BUT THEIR HAIR WAS PERFECT!!

Its Baltimore, 1962, and a rebellious teenager with the biggest bouffant on the block attempts to win the coveted "Miss Auto Show" crown as she fights against racial and body discrimination.

Though Hairspray is seen as John Waters most mainstream film.  It's still packed the wit, rebellion, heart and bizarreness you come to expect and love from Mr Waters.  It really is the perfect gateway to the Pope of Filth's work.

'A Journey Of Conscious Awakening' by Amal Joy

Amal Joy presents 'A Journey Of Conscious Awakening', an exhibition of paintings exploring themes of spirituality, the natural world and sacred connection.

"Born in Kerala, India, I initially pursued a path in mechanical engineering, earning a degree in this field. I started doing art in my engineering years and this led me to the world of fine arts. Relocating to the United Kingdom, I developed my artistic skills by enrolling in BA Fine Art at Leeds Beckett University, where I delved into the nuances of artistic expression and conceptual exploration.
