Come Play With Me is a social enterprise putting out split 7” releases from the most exciting artists from the Leeds City Region alongside a few surprises along the way. For the past five years we’ve released a mix of new and more established acts from all genres, demonstrating the awesome diversity of great music coming out of this part of the world.
In terms of the CPWM magazine our remit was to create a something that got behind the scenes and under the skin of all things music, something that was more personality lead and went a bit deeper than other magazines (not that there’s anything wrong with them!). We always look to try and cover not only artists but all the people involved in the music industry. We're also keen to highlight the range of great people and organisations that help and support people who are in - or want to get into - the music industry.
We wanted to create opportunities for young journalists, photographers, artists and illustrators and make sure they got paid for their work, which we’ve done with the support of the lovely people at Youth Music.
As ever with CPWM we aim to be inclusive and as diverse as possible. Whilst the label and events we produce are heavily Leeds focussed the magazine was set up purposefully to be both national and international to help spread the word about CPWM and also help build partnerships that would feed back into the business.
Our latest issue of the magazine (feat Enter Shikari / Ghostpoet / Mystery Jets / Milk Teeth / Orchards / Sky Valley Mistress / Becca Mancari / Melenas / Seazoo / Team Picture / Mealtime / Izzy Camina / Sweet Whirl / Primo! / Billy Nomates / Meadow Meadow / Music Support / Music:Leeds Launchpad / Neighbourhood Watch Sheffield / Neighbourhood Watch Pamplona / Photo Booth Isolation and lots more) can be found on issu.
