Rise Up Festival

Join us for a day of performance, music, dance, words and film marking Windrush and other journeys. Rise Up is a one day festival that showcases the rich Caribbean Heritage of Leeds and beyond. The day is made up of four events created to appeal to all ages and a special Mahogany Market offering crafts, food and more.

Leeds Conservatoire Piano Competition Finals 2024

For the ninth year, we welcome back the Leeds Conservatoire students to compete for £500 and their own solo, prizewinning recital at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton. We have now reached the finals of this year's competition and the contestants have been whittled down to four. Watch the pianists navigate the challenges of their chosen repertoire as they battle head-to-head to win this coveted prize.

Each student will play for 30 minutes. Individual chosen repertoire pieces will include include works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and York Bowen.

Maya Youssef: Finding Home

To celebrate World Refugee Day, join British-Lebanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maya Youssef as she performs music from her latest album, Finding Home.

Hailed as “queen of the qanun,” the 78-stringed Middle Eastern plucked zither, Maya’s intense and thoughtful music is rooted in the Arabic classical tradition but forges pathways into jazz, Western classical and Latin styles.

JS Bach St John Passion

St Peter's Singers is thrilled to announce a highly anticipated live performance of J.S. Bach's transcendent St John Passion on Good Friday, March 29th, at Leeds Minster. This momentous performance features Otley-raised Toby Ward, a distinguished tenor and esteemed choral conductor, returning to his roots as a principal soloist. Accompanying Ward is the renowned baritone Phil Wilcox, adding his exceptional talent to this rendition of Bach’s masterpiece, and creating an unforgettable musical experience for all in attendance.

Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle

Join us for an evening of musical delight as we present Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle - a charming and enchanting masterpiece. Rossini’s wit and creativity shine through in this unique composition, where sacred solemnity meets playful brilliance.

You’ll experience delicate harmonies, lively rhythms, and sublime vocal performances from Leeds Festival Chorus and four outstanding soloists. The piece will be accompanied by both piano and accordion.

National Opera Studio: Flights of Fancy

As the era of Mozart was drawing to a close, Rossini’s was just beginning.

For part of their yearly residency with Opera North, join the Young Artists of the National Opera Studio for a musical exploration highlighting the contrasting styles and enduring legacies of these two great composers.

Directed by Martin Duncan and conducted by Chris Moulds, this semi-staged production features scenes from operas including Le nozze di Figaro, Idomeneo, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Guillaume Tell, La cenerentola, and Il turco in Italia.
