For the past 12 months, LEEDS 2023 has celebrated arts and culture in all our diversity as part of the Year of Culture. Transforming the city and astonishing the public with everything ranging from public installations to pop-up festivals and large-scale theatre. 

But the challenge is: how do you bring a year like this to close?

Paranormal Activity

My Fair Lady

Join us for the bloomin’ loverly time of your life at Lerner and Loewe’s much-loved musical My Fair Lady.

This is the classic story of Cockney flower-seller Eliza Doolittle who is taught to “talk more genteel” by Professor Henry Higgins so that she may pass as a lady. But it’s not only Eliza who gets an education.

The Enormous Crocodile

Ten puppet-makers have spent three months creating twenty puppets for this joyful musical of Roald Dahl's The Enormous Crocodile, with the world premiere at Leeds Playhouse between 6th December 2023 and 6th January 2024. There is life after Romeo!

New Views at Leeds Playhouse

In partnership with the National Theatre, Leeds Playhouse is excited to be hosting the New Views programme this year.

If you are aged 14 - 21 you could be part of an amazing playwriting opportunity, with the chance for the winner to have their play read and rehearsed by professional actors.

New Views is the National Theatre’s playwriting programme for young people wanting to learn and develop their playwriting talents.

The House With Chicken Legs

The House with Chicken Legs author Sophie Anderson on the magical stage adaptation at Leeds Playhouse this month.

For a long time the bestselling children’s author didn’t think she would find an audience for her work, “I’d been writing for ten years, mainly for my own children, and purely for the love of it,” she says.

So when her YA novel The House with Chicken Legs was accepted for publication, and quickly became a hit, it came as something of a surprise.
