Engineery Exhibition

On the 300th anniversary of John Smeaton, dubbed the Father of Civil Engineering, our new exhibition celebrates civil engineering in its many forms! Uncover unique objects that were central to Smeaton’s journey and an accompanying exhibition by our Young Smeatonians group which poses challenging questions about the subject.

The exhibition is held in partnership with Leeds 2023 and forms part of the Smeaton300 programme.

Living with Death: an exhibition exploring death, dying and bereavement

See the latest exhibition at Leeds City Museum which invites visitors to discover how people experience death, grief and dying in different ways. Living with Death looks at how humans have developed knowledge and skills in response to life ending.

We know that death affects everyone, but it is often difficult to talk about. The exhibition hopes to gently encourage conversation through personal stories, and objects from across the world and throughout history.

A series of talks, workshops, and family-friendly events will complement the exhibition throughout the year.

Yorkshire: A Trans History

The Collector’s Cabinet will host a display case curated by GossipGrrrl looking at Yorkshire’s transgender history.

Featuring Bronze Age Hull, Roman Age Catterick and York, Edwardian Era Bradford, Wartime Wakefield and 70s Leeds - we can see trans people have been a part of Yorkshire longer than there has been a Yorkshire to be a part of!
