Leeds Young Film on Tour

Enjoy a curated collection of short films to spark imaginations for young audiences. Part of Leeds Storytelling Festival 2025. Taking place at various venues:

Wednesday 19th February, 1pm-2pm - Halton Library

Friday 21st February, 3pm-4pm -  The Compton Centre Community Hub and Library

Saturday 22nd February, 1.30pm - Seacroft Community Hub and Library

A free family-friendly event for all ages.

Hyde and Seek: Mufasa - The Lion King

Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny, their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

Hyde and Seek: Room on the Broom

Animated film based on the wonderful children's picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

A kind witch invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. The gang ultimately saves the witch from a fearsome dragon, and in gratitude she rewards them with a magnificent new broom which has room for everyone.

A magical tale about friendship and family from the producers of the hugely successful The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child.

Hyde and Seek: WALL-E

Travel to a galaxy not so far away for a cosmic comedy adventure about a determined robot named WALL-E. After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, the curious and lovable WALL-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. Join them and a hilarious cast of characters on a fantastic journey across the universe.

Hyde and Seek: The Secret Garden

It's a special garden where friendships blossom, illnesses fade away and sorrows flee. There, troubled orphan Mary, her spoiled, sickly cousin Colin and kindly country boy Dickon discover that a world of caring can make a world of difference.

Prior to the screening on Saturday 1st February, the Thackray Museum of Medicine will be joining us to help delve into the history of illness and healthcare of the Victorian and Edwardian era when the film was set alongside a look at some intriguing and fascinating artefacts from their collection.

Hyde and Seek: Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out + The Wrong Trousers

A Grand Day Out (1989, U, 23min)

To replenish their depleted supply of cheese, inventor Wallace and his dog Gromit travel to the moon in a homemade rocket-ship.

The Wrong Trousers (1993, U, 29min)

Gromit butts heads with a mysterious penguin lodger, who hatches a sinister scheme involving the ex-NASA Techno Trousers that have been modified by Wallace for walkies.
