Wintertime Watercolours with Joanne Whitaker

In celebration of Swarthmore opening on Saturdays we're offering a selection of fabulously affordable workshops.

These two hour sessions are perfect for you if you're wanting to try something new for the New Year or if you'd like to refresh your skills!

Settle into the New Year with this relaxed watercolour session inspired by the winter chill.

Make four watercolour images which can be inserted into greetings cards to take home and gift to friends.

Family History Consultation

If you are having difficulty with your family history research then join our team of family history librarians at the Central Library for a free consultation: from first steps using Ancestry to more advanced queries, we're on hand to help.

We can primarily assist with family history in the Leeds and West Yorkshire area; the consultation is open to anyone, however, as we may be able to offer general advice depending on your circumstances.

"I've Put a Spell On You" - Burlesque Workshop with Hattie Go Lucky

Back by popular demand, Hattie Go Lucky is once again returning to Swarthmore!!

Join us for a fun filled evening and learn some of the basic principles of burlesque whilst embracing your fearless side!

For those of you who joined Hattie in their first session here, you will be shown some more fabulous moves and will build on your previous experience.

You can wear your comfy clothes for the session or wear your best burlesque glam, we ask that you bring a robe with you and we'll provide the feather boas.

Hattie will definitely put a spell on you!

Play with Paint

Join us to be creative, messy and experimental with paint. This monthly event is all about having fun and playing with paint. Let go of your inhibitions and splash colour on our walls. No creative ability is required, this is all about the process and enjoying the freedom of getting messy.

Start-up and Grow: Two day Creatives Workshop

Recently had a go at crafting your own products and thinking you'd be able to turn them into a side hustle or business venture?

Join this workshop to get the skills you'll need to take your craft business to the next step.

In this two-day workshop we'll be joined by expert speakers who'll be going through some of the 'need to knows' as a maker, creator or crafter. From pricing your products to taking photographs and boosting your digital presence.

Tongueomania: Languages, Animals and Surrealist Anatomies

Explore the relationship between surrealist techniques and human and animal bodies in this free workshop.

Join visual poets Daniela Nicolaescu and Blaise Sales to create poetic collages about tongues (furry and otherwise), language and surrealist transformations, inspired by our current exhibition The Traumatic Surreal.

This workshop has been tailored for individuals aged 12 to 20 in mind, but all are welcome.

Indian Bollywood / Contemporary Dance

Evening classes at Yorkshire Dance.

This course is designed to develop your skills, no matter your current level. It promises to infuse your soul with colour and spice, engaging and inspiring you to move and dance with passion.
