Botanical Art, Cacti - Watercolour Painting with Artist Monair Hyman

Gently but expertly guided by Monair, you will be observing from life and the examples in Art Library books and Special Collections to produce botanical drawings.You will learn colour mixing and transfer all your ideas to a final piece using Winsor and Newton watercolour paints.

All materials are included and the paint palette will be yours to take home.

Colourbration is a two day celebration of creativity for colour loving peeps in the heart of the city centre.

It's the brainchild of Leeds indies including: Flavour Like Fancy, March Makes, Holy Doughly and Seagulls Paint aiming to create fun day out for all the family with a whole lot of something for everyone.

Featuring a makers market filled with colour loving creators of jewellery, ceramics, art prints homewares and more. Free crafts and sensory play for kids, creative workshops, street food, chill out zones, music and good vibes!

Make a Charm Necklace with Georgia Osborn

During this workshop you will first design your charms from polymer clay, feel free to come prepared with ideas or let inspiration strike during the workshop!

For the second half of the session you will use a variety of materials to decorate your charms, including acrylic paint and Posca pens, before finally assembling them into a fabulous necklace.

Please note - this workshop is suitable for beginners but they must be 18+

Join us for a FREE printing session here at Swarthmore as part of Heritage Open Days.

Take inspiration from our archival exhibition and create your very own Blue Plaque print. You'll be carefully guided by Abbie Mooney in the different processes involved in Cyanotype printing and will leave with your own creation from the workshop, plus the knowhow to create your own at home.

NOTE - we are running the same workshop twice on one day - so please ensure you only book for one session as we want to give as many people the opportunity to try Cyanotype printing as possible

Introduction to Plaster Carving with Jeannie Waterhouse

Join Jeannie in this beginners introduction to plaster carving. You will be guided in how to create a bas-relief. This means the piece you create has a flat back and a 3-D image that you have carved out, at the front.

You will be given a demonstration of how to use your tools and there will be examples of plaster work to inspire you.

You will draw your design onto the plaster in pencil before carving out your design.

Folklore Lino Workshop with Rhiannon

Using lino cutting and hand printing techniques you will be invited to dive into the symbolism of the mermaid in British folklore.

Join us in an exploration of the ancient story of the Mermaid of Zennor, a traditional folktale from a coastal village in Cornwall.

We will be taking inspiration from the beautifully engraved Mermaid of Zennor Bench, which was carved in the 1500s to commemorate the story.

This workshop is open to all and welcomes beginners and intermediate printers alike.

All materials will be provided including 6'' wooden hoop, DMC bundle threads, buttons, ribbon and needle and the gorgeous fabric design with the choice of a butterfly or Beetle.
