Discover the Cosmos through drawing with Artist Hondartza Fraga

Join us at Northlight Arts Centre for a unique, family-friendly creative drawing workshop led by the acclaimed artist Hondartza Fraga, whose work has been featured in Phaidon’s Vitamin D3: Today’s Best in Contemporary Drawing. This engaging session invites participants of all abilities on a cosmic journey, drawing inspiration from the stunning raw images of Saturn captured by NASA’s Cassini mission.

Dried Flower Wreath Workshop with Hannah Sibai

Under the expert eye of Hannah, you can choose from a range of flowers and foliage to create your own individually designed wreath. You can even choose whether to fully adorn it with dried flowers or go for a half or symetrical finish!

You will be guided in how to construct your wreath with a variety of colours and textures on a metal hoop.

The flowers used can be quite stong smelling and may affect those with hayfever.

Create a Pair of Japanese Kokedama (Moss Balls) with Anita from BlumenKind

Fancy creating a pair of Kokedama?

Kokedama (Japanese) are foliage plants that have their roots ball and soil covered in moss to create moss balls. These can be ejoyed in the garden or indoors. Under the careful guidance of professional florist Anita you will be given two different plants to wrap in moss, create simple hangers for them and learn how to keep them thriving.

STICKER Drink and Draw / Leeds illustrator meet-up / Brew

Join us for our monthly get together of BREW – the illustration meetup for Leeds.

This JULY we are doing things a little differently!

We are running a STICKER Drink and Draw. Vicky and Kat will hand out creative prompts to get us drawing. By the end of the evening you will have designed and created your very own sticker! Please bring a sketchbook and anything you like to draw with (pens recommended).

Go Figure - Monthly Self-Led Life Drawing

Come and join us for a fun and friendly life drawing session. Go Figure is a regular event held here at Swarthmore, look out for it every first Thursday of the month,  6pm - 8pm!

There will be no tutor leading this session but it will be hosted by a member of the Swarthmore team. There are a number of easels and drawing boards available to use, but do feel free to bring your own.

There will be a rotation of both male and female life models and on occassion we will have multiple models in the same session.

Intro to Crochet - Make a Granny Square with Ingrid Bolton-Gabrielsen

Join Ingrid on this beginner friendly crochet workshop where you will be introduced to the world of fibre arts and taught the foundations of crocheting, before working through the individual steps to create a traditional crocheted Granny Square.

You will take your work and skills home, and some inspiration of where your crochet journey may lead next!

Ingrid has been crocheting for several years and recommends it to everyone she meets. Come and join in the crochet addiction!

The Moor Market ~ Start of the Summer

Join us for The Start of the Summer, a Moor Market event held on Saturday 22nd June. 

There will be a variety of vendors, fabulous food, drinks - including alcoholic beverages, table tennis, a free library and second hand sustainable shopping… a market that brings makers and the community together for a family fun day!

Botanical Art - Watercolour Lilies with Artist Monair Hyman

Gently but expertly guided by Monair, you will be observing from life and the examples in Art Library books and Special Collections to produce botanical drawings. You will learn colour mixing and transfer all your ideas to a final piece using Winsor and Newton watercolour paints.

All materials are included and the paint palette will be yours to take home.
