Introduction to Lino Print

Join us for a brand new course at The Middle Floor - Introduction to Lino Print!

Lino printing, also known as linocut or lino cutting, is a traditional printmaking technique that involves cutting a design into a block of linoleum and then transferring the design to paper or fabric. During this course, we will design, carve, and print unique pieces of art inspired by relationships to identity, cultural heritage and celebration! 

Exploring British Folklore through Lino Printing with Rhiannon Kenny

Using lino cutting and hand printing techniques you will be invited to dive into the symbolism of the mermaid in British folklore.

Join us in an exploration of the ancient story of the Mermaid of Zennor, a traditional folktale from a coastal village in Cornwall.

We will be taking inspiration from the beautifully engraved Mermaid of Zennor Bench, which was carved in the 1500s to commemorate the story.

This workshop is open to all and welcomes beginners and intermediate printers alike.

Please note - participants must be aged 18+.

Make Silver Stacking Rings with Charlotte Whitmore

Your tutor, Charlotte, will guide you through the process of making a set of three different silver stacking rings.

You will learn how to size a ring, mark out, cut, solder and shape metal. You will begin the workshop by practising with copper wire before moving onto silver.

This workshop is perfect for beginners or those who have a little jewellery making experience.

You will leave the workshop with a set of three silver stacking rings. All materials and equipment included.

Life Drawing - Four Week Course with Life Model

Venture into life drawing in this relaxed, supportive four-week course taught by artist and tutor Paul Digby.

You'll explore figure drawing including line, gesture and shade to develop your own artistic style.

Join artist and educator Paul Digby in this fabulous one day workshop.

Participants will explore a variety of materials, including graphite, pencil and pen, all while learning essential drawing methods such as line drawing, shading techniques (hatching, cross-hatching, and stipping), and the principles of composition.

The workshop emphasiseshands-on exercises, allowing participants to practice quick sketches, create shaded forms and develop small compositions that integrate learned techniques.
