The City Museum Singers make a special one-off appearance in the Nave at Kirkstall Abbey with a collection of Folk Songs for Creativity and Wellbeing Week. So come along and listen in the unique monastic surroundings for this event. The City Museum Singers meet on the first Friday of every month to sing in harmony, find their voice and take time for wellbeing.

Hattie will be teaching you the art of the striptease, he will show you how to incorporate comedy in to your performance and you'll get to practice using a seductive veil fan.
You can wear your comfy clothes for the session or wear your best burlesque glam, we ask that you bring a robe with you and we'll provide the feather boas.
Hattie will definitely put a spell on you!

Chemistry is back on Friday 30 May, with another night of poetry and spoken word, two brilliant headliners and our amazing open mic. This time round our headliners are renowned Bloodaxe poet Helen Ivory, and former Poetry Business prize-winner Luke Samuel Yates.
The events are themed on the elements of the periodic table, so this time it’s element number 19, which is K for Potassium. The theme is entirely optional, but we hope you might use it as a creative prompt to come up with some new work to reveal on the night.
Writers from the Leeds Arts University creative writing course will be sharing their work across poetry, prose and script. Hear from the next generation of Leeds writers. Our writers are already award-winning, have work published in literary magazines and national press, such as The Guardian. A wealth of new ideas and voices.
This performance also marks the start of Leeds Arts University's End of Year Show, which runs 16th - 21st June.
We’re kicking off the summer with poetry at everyone’s favourite brunch spot in Hyde Park. Join LPF at Leeds Lit Fest for ‘Bards do Brunch’ for a chance to share your poetry over breakfast, coffee or pastry in the Snug at Hyde Park Book Club.
This is a ticketed event with a sign-up for anyone who wants to read some of their latest work in the comfort of fellow poets. Bring a notebook for the breaks, get advice from others, and share your thoughts on the poems you hear.

Readings by a different local published poet each month and this month we delighted to welcome JANE SHARP
Jane Sharp is a poet from Barnsley. She’s been published in The Dalesman, Dream Catcher, Voices for Change, and the online zines Fig Tree, 60 Odd Poets and The Starbeck Orion, has had work in various anthologies and broadcast on BBC Radio. She won the Nine Lives Slam in Sheffield and has headlined at several poetry events.
'Song of the Sea' tells the story of Ben and his little sister Saoirse - the last Seal-child - who embark on a fantastic journey back to their home by the Sea, across a fading world of ancient Irish legends and magic, a world that needs Saoirse to find her voice and sing the 'Song of the Sea' to save all of fairie kind from being lost forever.
An evening of discussions and readings with acclaimed poets Michael Nardone (Montréal) and Steven Zultanski (Copenhagen) alongside writers from the postgraduate Kerning workshop group.
Join us at the Workshop Theatre for a special evening of conversations about contemporary poetry, cross-arts collaboration and editorial practice with two special guests: Montréal-based poet and editor Michael Nardone, and Copenhagen-based poet and essayist Steven Zultanski.
