WaterLANDS - artist opportunity

A part-time artistic engagement residency has been funded to work with the restoration team and partners working at the Great North Bog site which spans large parts of northern England and their community.

As key partners in WaterLANDS, Yorkshire Integrated Catchment Solutions Programme (iCASP), at University of Leeds, will be taking part in the selection process.

The Old Red Bus Station is summoning local Leeds creatives to participate in an in-house exhibition opportunity, exploring how society uses humour as a coping mechanism and laughs in the face of adversity.

Selected work will be exhibited at The Old Red Bus Station in an ambitious celebration of creativity.

Architectural Acupuncture: Entertainment, Education, Enjoyment and Employment

Over the next three months, BasementArtsProject will be working with sculptors John Barber and Keith Ackerman on the production of two stone benches. The benches will be made using the same type of stone as the sculpture Jacob’s Ladder, also sited on the same bit of land at the edge of Tunstall Road, and the same process of direct carving.

Mikkel Ullah - Dynamite

The Dynamite Project is a collective established in 2014 by local urban artist Mikkel Ullah.

Mikkel says "It felt important that I could help young musicians, dancers and artists from Leeds access opportunities and connections for creative projets, whilst staying connected to the city myself."

How To Experience FORGE

From 31st March 2022 - 2nd April 2022 at new experimental warehouse venue Testbed, informed by her Jewish history, artist Rachel Mars will be making an exact replica of the 100kg steel ‘welcome gate’ which was stolen from the Dachau concentration camp. Accompanied by a live sound-scape by sound artist Dinah Mullen, audiences are invited to watch as Rachel welds a replica of the replica gate over the course of three days.
