Nuclear Bebopalypse - Gareth Hughes trio
Gaz Hughes is a renowned jazz drummer and band leader, who first gained wide public attention as the original drummer in the Matthew Halsall Band. He has played a significant role in the early recordings of the Gondwana label and has been a highlight on the album “On The Go”, which won the Best Jazz Album of the Year at the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards in 2012, and was nominated for the Best Jazz Album MOBO Awards in 2011.
Nicola Farnon Trio
Widely recognised as one of the classiest jazz and swing singers and double bassists in the UK, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nicola Farnon has a remarkable musical pedigree, both parents being professional classical musicians and her great uncle no less than the late Robert Farnon. Originally raised classically on the cello and the piano, Nicola started singing and playing double bass in her twenties which led to a jazz career spanning 25 years (so far!).

The headline ensemble features two of the most acclaimed musicians in NYC and beyond: the long-time partnership of luminary composer and bandleader Ingrid Laubrock (saxophone) and master improviser Tom Rainey (drums) alongside a pair of the most in-demand collaborators in the North of England.
Kasper Reitkerk KRSIX @Northlight Arts
Kasper Rietkerk is an award-winning Dutch saxophonist living in London and releasing his debut album as a bandleader. His European band features a real Loiner playing with them too – drummer Jonah Evans.
Kasper Rietkerk has worked with John Carrol Kirby, Eddie Chacon and Jean Toussaint among others. he is a member of the Emma Rawicz Jazz Orchestra and is a vibrant force on the bustling Lonfon Jazz scene His work is rooted in a jazz tradition, but also influenced by rock, hiphop and pop music.
Rush Hour Jazz with Rose Perry sax and Raquel Alvero vocals
Continuing our latin jazz theme for September, Leeds based Portuguese vocalist Raquel Alvero sings for us at Rush Hour jazz. She appeared for us on the Chapel Allerton Festival Main Stage as part of the Brasukas. Tenor sax player Rose Perry is no stranger to Chapel Allerton either having performed with the Tom Sharp jazz orchestra in several memorable concerts at Seven Arts. they’ll be accompanied by Will Powell on guitar Steve Crocker bass and Brendan Bache on percussion.
