Lou’s Safari are a piano trio from Leeds, focused on playing standards and original material in an open and conversational way.
Born out of the Leeds jazz scene, and visiting the stages of Matt and Phreds, The Domino, Wakefield Jazz, and others, Joseph Frost-Tesfaye (piano), Harry Souter (double bass) and Louis Berthoud (drums) have played together in various arrangements for nearly 4 years, but in the last last year began performing together as a trio.

15 musicians and three performance spaces.
It begins with a trio in each performance space (nine musicians) who improvise with each other until one of the remaining six musicians walks into their space.
The new arrival displaces one of the players, who then sets off to another space. This system creates a kaleidoscope of musical combinations over three hours.

An all star line up from the Leeds jazz scene pays tribute to the legendary drummer Elvin Jones.
Best known as a member of the era-defining John Coltrane Quartet, Elvin Jones also recorded with such jazz icons as Grant Green, Wayne Shorter, Larry Young and Joe Henderson.
This Leeds Jazz Festival show will focus on the numerous albums Jones made as a leader, including Coalition, Mr Jones, The Ultimate and the legendary Live At The Lighthouse.

The Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra are a brilliant 20-piece line up performing classic Big Band Jazz from the 20th Century, as well as arrangements from members of the band. They release their debut album of the same name, supported by Leeds Conservatoire's Big Band, and celebrate with us at The Attic on Sunday 27th April.
The Joint is a weekly jazz night curated by a rolling roster of student/newbie promoters, supported by Sela and Not a thing.
