Adam Glasser Quartet “South African Stories” at Chapel Allerton Arts Festival
South African-born harmonica player and pianist Adam Glasser is at once a true original and a guardian of one of the world’s most identifiably national jazz traditions – South Africa’s tradition comparing favourably with Cuba’s and Brazil’s for its originality and local colour. He has developed a highly personal sound, both on harmonica and on what some call “township jazz piano.”
Carioca Soul at Chapel Allerton Arts Festival
Inspired by the music of Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 the band perform an eclectic mix of Bossa Nova/Samba, contemporary Brazilian music mixed with original tunes in a melting pot of latin/funk and soul. Carioca Soul have been performing to sell out crowds at local festivals and jazz clubs across the UK.

Tessa Smith sings at Rush Hour Jazz
Choir fans will know Tessa from her running our community jazz choir and the Chapel Allerton Festival Choirs as well as her vocal performances with the Honeybirds and lindy-hopping!
For this rush hour jazz she’ll be singing some lovely jazz tunes with Ed Kaniek sax, Andy Cholerton keys,and the Jazz leeds trio.

Rush Hour Jazz with John and Kathy Dyson
Kathy Dyson is a jazz guitarist, composer, researcher and educator based in Manchester. She first studied at Leeds College of Music in the early 80’s, co-founded Leeds Jazz, then set off on a five year tour of Europe with John and daughter Ruth.
Stuart Garside and Stuart McDonald quintet - Jazz in the Courtyard
Two superb musicians and entertainers! Vocalist and trombonist Stuart Garside, has plied his musical trade with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, The New Squadronnaires, The Memphis Belle Orchestra, The Nick Ross Orchestra, The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra, The Kings of Swing and many more including performances at The Royal Albert Hall, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Warner Leisure Hotels and many years entertaining at sea. Stuart McDonald is a consummate musician.

The Rhythm Section- a new combo to the Leeds music scene. A groove driven, mostly instrumental organ based trio featuring three of the best musicians around – with Ian Rose organ, John Heap bass, and Chapel Allerton’s John Shepard, a veteran drummer, ex-Acoustic Alchemy, smooth jazz Grammy nominated chart toppers in America.
World class musicians, with a set list is full of well known jazz, blues, soul, funk tunes and original material that will delight our audience.
Little Big Band – Jazz in the Seven Arts Courtyard
The first in our summer open air series in the Seven Arts Courtyard – featuring The Little Big Band, playing hits from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond.
The Little Big Band have been playing together since 2007. They play music in a variety of styles; there are songs from the ’30’s from composers such as George Gerswhin and Cole Porter; swing music from the ’40’s with Glenn Miller well represented; The ’50’s and ’60’s music includes many of the songs of Sinatra’s “Rat Pack”. They also give blues and soul favourites from the ’70’s the big band treatment.
