Join us at our Willow Workshops and come help us to create Farsley’s first ever large-scale Lantern Festival by volunteering at our weekly sculpture sessions in September.
In these workshops you’ll be taught how to create large-scale lantern sculptures using eco-friendly willow and paper.
The lanterns will have a wonderfully wholesome ‘Urban Wildlife’ theme and once complete they will be displayed at two spectacular Lantern Parades; one at Farsley’s Lights’ Switch On in November and the other at Farsley's Charity Food Drive in December!
Led by artists Morwenna Catt and Duncan Burnett, we hope that by working together as a community that we can design and complete several large-scale lanterns across 8 sessions.
We’d love for you to donate your time to help us make this year’s parades as magical as possible!
The workshops are free to join and suitable for anyone aged 16+
(we advise that under 18s be accompanied by a guardian)
They will take place at Scrap in Sunny Bank Mills, Farsley. Scrap is accessible by lift and there’s disabled parking at Sunny Bank Mills. Snacks and drinks will be available to purchased in Scrap’s Cafe.
We have places for up to 10 volunteers per session.
Sign up to a morning or afternoon session or choose to make a day of it and select both; anyone signing up to help us for a full day of volunteering will be treated to Grumpy’s pizza for lunch as thank you!
