A wide, outdoor shot shows Calverley Old Hall, a historic stone building with a large green lawn in front of it. A light-colored gravel path extends from the foreground to a wooden front door in the center of the building. The hall is a sprawling structure with multiple sections and varying rooflines, all made of dark grey stone with many windows. To the right of the path, a patio with a large wooden table and benches is visible. The sky is clear and blue.

Alongside the new Landmark you will also be able to visit the Community Space which is available throughout the year for all to hire and use.

What's On

Craft Skills Demonstrations: Over the weekend, Ellie Jae Dobson, bricklayer and 2024 SPAB Fellow, who worked on the restoration of Calverley Old Hall, will be on site demonstrating some of the techniques used in the repair and consolidation of walls, including 'galleting' using clay tiles and lime mortar.

What does an architect do all day? Ask the Architect: Karen Lim from Cowper Griffiths Architects who created the bold design for Calverley Old Hall will be answering your questions in the Solar.

About Calverley Old Hall

An intriguing building, which has been added to, subtracted from, rearranged and developed across 700 years, Calverley Old Hall has now been brought right up to date with an exciting reimagining of the building for the 21st century. A newly discovered Tudor painted chamber hides alongside new rooms that occupy ancient spaces in spectacular harmony.

The new Landmark includes the stunning Great Hall with its late-15th century hammerbeam roof, overlooked by a gallery that leads to a first floor sitting room. There is no doubt that you find yourself in the 21st century: the building is heated by renewable energy and designed for accessibility, with clean modern design. Yet you are clasped by the changing archaeology of a thousand years, in a Landmark to contemplate the future as well as the past.

Making a donation to Landmark as part of your visit

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to visit a Landmark for free as part of our Open Day programme, and as such we’re pleased to continue to offer free entry at all our Open Days in 2025.
The Landmark Trust is a building conservation charity that relies on donations to support its work. Over the past 60 years, public support has helped us rescue over 200 historic buildings and make them available for all to experience and enjoy. Your support by attending our events, booking a workshop, and making a donation allows us to continue to save buildings at risk and continue to maintain those already in our care. Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore a future Landmark, offer opportunities for young people to experience history first-hand, or provide a charity with free Landmark stay for their service users through our 50 for Free scheme.

Donations can be made when you book your Eventbrite ticket, at the event via contactless donation points, or after your visit via our website under Support.
