Pop-Up Culture Leeds

After a summer of dance, music, and community connection, South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk) invites you to the grand finale of Pop-Up Culture Leeds at Leeds Playhouse on Saturday, 16th August. This vibrant event closes South Asian Heritage Month and celebrates the citywide Pop-Up Culture Sharing Days project, supported by Leeds City Council.
This summer, seven neighbourhoods - from Armley and Beeston to Morley and Chapel Allerton - partnered with SAA-uk to host unique, community-led events that reflected their local spirit through music, dance, poetry, art, and storytelling. The project aims to empower communities across Leeds’ 33 wards to celebrate their culture and claim their space in the City Centre.
The Final Showcase brings together the most joyful moments from these events for a powerful celebration of creativity at the heart of Leeds.

What to Expect:
An uplifting afternoon of music, dance, poetry, and storytelling — all co-created with communities across Leeds.
Live performances by local talent
Family-friendly workshops and activities
Inspiring stories of identity and belonging
A delicious South Asian meal to share
A joyful, intergenerational celebration of community and creativity
“Through creative dialogue and engagement, SAA-uk and Neighbourhood Hosts aim to build confidence, foster community spirit, and strengthen connections through shared stories and experiences. This encourages self-expression and resilience, especially during financially testing times, while giving people a reason to get out of bed, inspiring purpose and skill development through creativity.” Keranjeet Kaur Virdee MBE, CEO & Artistic Director, SAA-uk
