This talk will ask the question what would a city where people didn’t need to own a car look like? This, after all, is part of the vision of Leeds City Council – but it is not a future which has been created anywhere around the world. In a world where low traffic neighbourhoods, new bike lanes or pavement parking can all cause public flashpoints talking about car ownership sounds provocative and, given some of the options available to people today “pie in the sky”. The INFUZE project is a five year research study which is asking people in Leeds to imagine and design such a city.
The INDIs Film Festival returns in March 2025, bringing together young filmmakers, industry professionals and film fans for a packed programme of screenings, talks, workshops and VR experiences.
Our regular Science Cafe returns once more with a veritable cornucopia of science. Each speaker has a quarter of an hour to talk, then you, the audience, take over. Whether you want to grill the speaker about generalities or pose a particular problem, the floor is yours.

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk at the University of Leeds we welcome fine art alumna Sarah-Joy Ford.
Dr Sarah-Joy Ford is a Todmorden based artist and independent scholar working with quilting to explore the complexities and pleasures of queer communities, histories and archives.
For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk at the University of Leeds we welcome Thahmina Begum, an interdisciplinary artist, poet and workshop facilitator who lives and works in Leeds.
Thahmina Begum has exhibited internationally, nationally, and hyper locally. Begum is a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist (HCPC, BATT). Her work explores cultures, identities, belonging and British /Bangladeshi/Muslim Diaspora. Begum’s work explores stories, hidden narratives and storytelling through art and art making.
