The fabulous Sospiri Wind Quintet have joined forces with Philip Henderson, composer of the West End musical The Far Pavilions and the Henderson/ Macari fantasy opera Giacomo’s Muse which had its world premiere in the U.S.A in June 2023.
Also joining forces with Sospiri and Philip is Chilean opera soprano Valentina Diaz. Valentina has captivated audiences on major international stages with her remarkable talent. Together they present the premiere of ‘The Brontes–a Musical Portrait.’

Mass of Thanksgiving - Thursday 18th July 2024 at 11.30am - free entry and all are welcome
Guided Tours of the Cathedral - Friday 19th & Saturday 20th July at 10.00am and 1.15pm- each tour lasts approx. 1 hour; no booking required; free of charge, but donations are welcome!

Experience two richly inventive works for strings composed nearly 150 years apart: Johannes Brahms’ Sextet in G Major Op. 36 (1864), and American composer Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte (2011).
For this intimate and beautifully presented concert, Opera North’s sextet is led from the violin by the Orchestra’s newly appointed leader, Katie Stillman.
