The Guide Dogs Run - Leeds

Looking for a great day out with a twist? Join us at The Guide Dogs Run and enjoy a fun run with a difference – everyone dresses as a dog!

On Saturday 22 June 2024 The Guide Dogs Run will be taking over Roundhay Park. The course is approx. 5k and you can tackle it however suits you, whether you want to run, jog or stroll. Take part with your friends, family, and four-legged friends and together we can raise vital funds for Guide Dogs.

Wild About Lotherton

Take a walk on the wild side at Lotherton this Easter holiday, with family trails and activities dotted around the estate. All inspired by the great outdoors! Activities include:

Woodland sensory and willow sculpture trails

Creepy crawly crafts – get crafty with some critter-inspired making in the Hall

Seed planting – use your green fingers and make something to grow at home

Animal activities – learn about the amazing animal kingdom by taking part in a range of quick-fire activities and quizzes

Shadwell Village Market

Based in the heart of Shadwell Village at St Paul's Shadwell Village Hall, the market hosts locally sourced artisans selling street food, drink, handcrafted homeware, local art, jewellery and more. With six scheduled across the year, it provides a warm and welcoming destination to shop locally and support independent Leeds businesses.

QUEER HISTORY TOURS ARE BACK!

Join Hold It Up Collective or Kit Heyam for a jaunt round Leeds visiting queer history landmarks. You'll hear about the first ever national trans conference, the vibrant queer clubbing scene in the 90s and lots of tales of activism, politics, arrests and cottaging.

Doodle Chat in the Park with Edek Thompson

Join Edek's Doodle Chat sessions in our local green space, Burley Park, for a relaxing blend of creativity and conversation. Explore the surrounding inspiration, and stretch your legs as we sketch, doodle, and connect amidst nature.

Edek’s Doodle Chat is a relaxed social group which anyone is welcome to join for free! Our aim during these sessions is to provide everyone with safe space to talk and listen. An opportunity to be social and prioritise well-being with your community. 

SongPath Music & Nature Wellbeing Workshops 2024

Join SongPath for relaxed and friendly workshops in the beautiful 900-year-old ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. Led by SongPath’s musicians, we’ll explore mindful breathing, deep listening and group music-making in these special outdoor workshops. All are welcome to join us (no musical experience required!) as we explore how creativity can help foster mental wellbeing and a sense of connection to the world around us.

Why is New Briggate “New”?

Join historian Robert Dyson on a walk around New Briggate, to expose the Development of Leeds to the North of the Headrow from agricultural land to what we see today.

On this guided walk we will cover religion, transport, the “Grand Quarter of the New Briggate, the  Heritage Action Zone , find out why “New” Briggate is so called and learn about the connection between New Briggate and the Princess of Wales.

Georgian Leeds

Professor Joyce Hill will lead this guided walk of Georgian Leeds. Although we tend to think of the heart of Leeds as a Victorian city, it was already flourishing in the Georgian period, rapidly establishing itself as the leading centre for the woollen cloth trade.
