The Sculpture Gallery Showcases Eric Moss

It’s our pleasure to welcome Eric Moss as our latest Guest Artist, throughout the month of July. A ceramic artist from Harrogate who creates unique ‘Ceramicano’ assemblies, these geometric sculptures are inspired by both the natural world and industry. Made in a range of clays and other materials, this work is supplemented by stoneware and raku pieces. In 2020, Eric achieved Selected Member status in the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain.

The Sculpture Gallery First Thursday - Eric Moss

Please come and join us on Thursday, 4th July when we’ll be hosting our usual First Thursday of the Month meet-up, with drinks between 5:30pm and 8:30pm. It’s our pleasure to welcome Eric Moss as our latest Guest Artist, a ceramic artist from Harrogate who creates unique ‘Ceramicano’ assemblies - geometric sculptures inspired by both the natural world and industry. Made in a range of clays and other materials, this work is supplemented by stoneware and raku pieces.  In 2020, he achieved Selected Member status in the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain.

Sculpting Royalty: Hew Locke and Mary Thornycroft

What happens when the work of a Victorian royal sculptor quite literally clashes with a twenty-first century reframing of monarchy and memorialisation?

This display takes as its starting point the recent acquisition of Hew Locke’s Souvenir 10 (Princess Alexandra) 2019 for the Leeds collection, a reworked Parian ware bust of Princess Alexandra of Denmark produced after a marble original by Mary Thornycroft.

Hany Armanious: Stone Soup

The Henry Moore Institute will reopen after refurbishment with an exhibition of work by Hany Armanious, one of Australia’s leading sculptors.

When he was six years old Armanious emigrated from Egypt to Australia and has spoken of his experiences of a cultural shift, relearning the world though its material language as much as its spoken one. His sculpture practice throws into question any certainty of knowing the world through its things, while unravelling the experience of encountering objects for the very first time.
