James Nash: ‘Notes of Your Music’

Veteran Northern poet James Nash launches his fourth collection of sonnets (and more). Notes of Your Music sets out to celebrate what may be gone, or flag up what might be celebrated before it goes. James is a long-term resident of Leeds and Bridlington. His third collection of poems, Coma Songs, was published in 2003 and reprinted in 2006. Since 2012 his poetry has been published by Valley Press, beginning with a selected poems (A Bit of An Ice Breaker) and his first collection of sonnets, Some Things Matter. Cinema Stories came out in 2015.

Skelton Grange Open Day

Our green oasis beside the River Aire, just 2 miles from Leeds City Centre, is a former industrial site that has been transformed into a haven for wildlife and people. Join us in celebrating it at our Open Day!

Our popular open day will include a range of activities across the beautiful, reclaimed woodland, ponds and meadows on the site.

Halim played by Saleh Bakri and Mina played by Lubna Azabal run a traditional caftan store in one of Morocco’s oldest medinas. In order to keep up with demanding customers, they hire a talented young man as an apprentice. Slowly Mina realises how much her husband is moved by his presence.

Remembering VE Day 80

On Bank Holiday Monday 5th May at 11.00 a.m. at St.Bartholomew's Church, in Armley, there will be a Concert commemorating the 80th Year since VE Day.

With instrumental music including the R.A.F. March, Dambusters March, Roll of Honour, Nimrod etc., and songs from the 40s including "We'll Meet Again" and many more.

With Alice Barber (vocals) and Graham Barber (organ and piano). Medals and hats may be worn, and flags waved! 

Doors open at 10.30 for refreshments. Admission free - donations welcome!

Darktown Comes to Print Town - Exhibition Launch

Join us in welcoming the artist Jonny Hannah to Otley. 

His new exhibition of screen prints, posters and artworks opens with an evening of refreshments and Jonny on the decks playing the records that inspire his eclectic artwork. 

Taking his influences from a range of sources, Jonny has explored a unique mix of folk tales, jazz, Americana and pop culture to create a personal vision of the world. 

Jonny is a designer and illustrator who also makes work as Cake & Ale Press.
