Music Lovers: Elefem invites you to her listening party at Hyde Park Book Club, 21st September, 7pm

Elefem's sound is Northern, romantic, and introspective. Think R&B. Think Soul. Think Alt.

Elefem is inviting music lovers to celebrate her fourth release, "Highfly." 
She describes the track as a pivotal "transitional single" within her curated collections.

This intimate event promises to be a unique opportunity to connect with Elefem's artistry and enjoy the vibrant R&B, Hip Hop sounds from the local music community.

We are so excited to have teamed up with the awesome Charity Shop Disco a Yorkshire-based DJ collective with a shared love of vinyl and charity shop treasure-hunting.

They've grown a joyful, inclusive community event where music lovers of all backgrounds can come together to spin records, dance, and connect.

Six guest DJs will be invited to play an all-vinyl, 25 minute set of genre-spanning music.

After last year’s success, our final gig of the year will be another Twixmas jam –  Tuesday afternoon 30 December 

The pounding rhythms of Africa blended with the explosive energy of a live band. This vibrant group of Zulu performers combined with seasoned musicians from the UK mix ancient tradition with contemporary flare. Ubunye deliver a soulful, goose bump inducing performance of original pieces cleverly fused with South African songs. It is a fantastic multi-cultural experience.

Jon Taylor is the ultimate jazz entertainer: he plays saxophone, flute, accordion, harmonica and sings. He also tells great stories. Jon is an alumnus of the Leeds College of Music and a contemporary of Alan Barnes, Dave Newton and Snake Davis, and he has been one of the most popular figures on the northern jazz scene for over forty years. He plays an engaging range of material encompassing classic standards, funk, blues, latin and chill-out grooves. His mission statement is to keep the music interesting and stimulating and to create a little bit of joy.

All styles and levels welcome – vocals and instrumentals – it’s all about the vibe. We are at Northlight on Potternewton Lane. The jazz Leeds trio will be there to support all performers. Phil Green will be your MC.

Acclaimed bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado is the son of the Italian conductor Claudio Abbado and Russian violinist Viktoria Mullova. He is a musician who combines great imagination, raw talent tempered by a clear vision, and a colourful character. A prolific composer and arranger, Misha has worked with many top with musicians including Tim Garland, Viktoria Mullova, Rob Luft and Stan Sulzmann.

The Regeneration Big Band is a formed from the north’s finest jazz musicians – both old and new. Attracting members such as Dale Gibson, Mike Hall, and Robert Howard, the big band thrives on its reputation of dazzling players led by Nigel Ashworth of the Syd Lawrence Orchestra. Nigel set himself the challenge of starting a Big Band that plays all of his own compositions and arrangements – so prepare to hear nothing you’ve heard before, played “exactly how a big band should sound” (Ian Darrington, Wigan Jazz Festival).
