Winter Wellbeing: Hand Embroidered Winter Wreath

Learn to use different hand embroidery stitches to create a mini festive winter wreath in this hand embroidery class with textile artist Hayley Mills-Styles. Be inspired by Botanical Art from the Gott Bequest.

Hayley is an artist and tutor based in Scarborough with a passion for embroidery. She has been stitching since childhood and loves to pass on these traditional skills with a contemporary twist. Hayley has a degree in Textile Crafts from the University of Huddersfield and a Masters in Textiles from Manchester School of Art.

Life Drawing: Four-week course with artist Boris Cruse

Venture into life drawing in this relaxed, supportive four-week course taught by experienced artist and tutor Boris Cruse. 

You'll explore figure drawing, including line, gesture and shade, and develop your own artistic style.

Professional artist and Northlight Artistic Director Boris Cruse has many years' experience teaching with arts organisations in Leeds and beyond.

4 week course running Mondays 6th / 13th / 20th / 27th January 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Armley Park Lantern Parade - Lantern Building Workshops

In the first session (Sunday 26/10/2024, 12.30pm - 1.25pm) we will be making the willow and paper lanterns for the parade, and in the second session (Sunday 03/11/24 at 12:30 -1:25pm) we will be decorating them. 

Your ticket will cover you for both workshops. But, if you can't make it to the second please let us know, and you can have undecorated lantern.

The Armley Park Lantern Parade will take place on the evening of Sunday 10th November from 4pm.

Edeks Doodle Chat

The Highrise Project presents: Edek’s Doodle Chat is a relaxed art group for everyone to doodle and chat.

A safe space to talk and listen. An opportunity to be social and prioritise well-being. A place to connect and build community.

We encourage you to bring along a creative activity that you’re working on. This could be anything from a colouring book to a painting, writing materials to collage stuff, or some air-drying clay. If you don't have anything, don't worry, there will be a range of materials and some inspiration if you would like some.

Creating Tactile Objects: Pewter Casting Workshop

Explore the art of casting in a dynamic one-day workshop tailored for individuals aged 16 and above.

Join artist Aaron McPeake to create a series of moulds that turn everyday objects into unique, tactile sculptures.

Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to work with pewter and jesmonite, offering a rich hands-on experience and an opportunity to expand your material knowledge.

This workshop emphasises engaging with materials through senses beyond sight, and we warmly invite blind and partially blind participants to join us.

Make a Spooky Charm Necklace or Keyring with Georgia

In this fab and fun adult workshop you’ll create either a charm necklace or keychain from polymer clay!

You can let your spooky mind run riot and craft a ghost, a bat or a witches hat!

With careful guidance from polymer clay artist Georgia, you'll be shown how to attach the findings for a necklace or keychain and you'll be able to customise your spooky charm using acylic paints and Posca pens.

Whilst your charm is baking (to harden the clay), you will get to decorate your own miniature ghost sculpture which has been pre made by Georgia!

Introduction to Macramé - Make a Plant Hanger with Hannah Sibai

Join Hannah for a fun filled evening where you'll learn the basic priciples of macramé.

You'll be guided through several different knots and techniques that can even be used afterwards for other macramé projects.

At the end of the workshop you'll have created your very own plant hanger to take home with you!

All materials provided, including cotton macramé cord and a plant pot.
