Swarthmore Education Centre is a not-for-profit registered charity for lifelong learning, community projects, family learning sessions and adult courses. We have specialist facilities for pottery, jewellery, stained glass, sculpture and computing, and the atmosphere is friendly and informal. We also work within the local community on negotiated projects, including arts, ICT and ‘Skills for Life’ programmes.

Swarthmore is a Grade II Listed Building has a fascinating history and is made up of six four-story terraced houses with additional dance/ hall and art studios. Swarthmore offers a wide range of rooms for hire, suitable for meetings, seminars, training, functions, exhibitions, and workshops. We also have a café in our gallery space that you can enjoy a bite to eat.

The spirit of the Centre’s aims has remained unchanged for over 100 years: Swarthmore seeks to inspire lives through friendly learning within a commitment to equality of opportunity.
