The Letters to Leeds Publication Launch Party @hydeparkbookclub on Monday 22nd April is an evening of live music, poetry and performance to celebrate our city! Black Is the Color of My Voice @leedsplayhouse Wed 24 Apr 2024 - Thu 25 Apr 2024 is inspired by the life of Nina Simone, and features many of her most iconic songs performed live. Apphia Campbell’s acclaimed play follows a successful singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father. She reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. The Ballad of the Underwater Daughter is unhinged puppetry for adults and ages 14+ @slung_low Warehouse in Holbeck on Friday 26 April. We're promised a strange sort of odyssey. A woozy universe of messy minds and monstrously fishy metaphors which is overloaded with puppets, props and machines.
